It really was just that initial feeling of the unknown for me, however, I feel people renting this house should be aware of the road leading up to the house and would highly recommend getting there during daylight. We also had a 4WD SUV but I think a 2WD would be ok. After I saw how it was, I didn't have any problems driving the road. It may seem like the road doesn't end but it's only the first time I drove up that it concerned me. There are a couple other houses on both sides of the dirt road but you have to keep going just another few seconds to reach this house. There's a slightly sharp left turn and then just a bit steep leading up to the house. My only initial issue was the road to the house after turning off the paved road. The house is right off the blue ridge parkway. There are 2 hiking locations within walking distance from the house which was great. The fire pit was a hit and firewood was actually supplied even though the information given states it wouldn't be. My boys loved the bunk beds and the games. The master bedroom mattress felt a bit like we sunk into the mattress which made me wonder of any back issues the next day but that never happened. The house had pretty much all the items to make our stay comfortable. It accommodated 3 adults and 2 kids (9 and 14 yrs) perfectly. We recommend picking up a bundle of firewood at one of our local Ingles grocery stores. Firewood is not provided as part of the rental. A Pack N Play was added in February 2023. The home is also just a short drive to Asheville (20 minutes) and the town of Black Mountain, which provide even more culinary, shopping, and outdoor experiences.
